animal feed is from plants but some fodder is of animal origin.
Fodder or feed for livestock and poultry, selected and prepared
to provide highly nutritional diets that both maintain the health
of the animals and increase the quality of such end products as
meat, milk, or eggs. Animal feeds are classified as follows: (1)
concentrates, high in energy value, including (a) cereal grains
and their by-products, (b) high-protein oil meals or cakes , (c)
by-products from processing of sugar beets, sugarcane, and (d)
animal and fish by-products; (2) roughages, including (a) pasture
grasses, (b) hays, etc...
Fodder may be effectively grown in a hydroponic environment. Growing
fodder, instead of feeding the raw grain , can greatly increase
the value of the grain. Increasing pressure to reduce costs, declining
cost of feed ingredients, availability of alternative feeds, technological
advancements in the treatment of grain on farm and a depleted
