The amount of Centenary Peony has been rare in China; actually the total number does not reach 200 varieties.From the Rocky-Mountain Peony of Gansu, there are about 150 varieties of Centenary Peony and 10 other varieties from the central plains. Two different varieties of Centenary Peony from two different regions show also different characters.
Centenary Peony varieties from the central plains are not more than two meters high, while mountains varieties of Centenary Peony in Gansu can be up to four meters high, and yield more than 300 flowers. Flowers are red, rose, white, blue, purple, etc., with a diameter ranging from 12 to 18 cm, a strong fragrance, and a spectacular view.
